Part One of Trollhunters premiered December 23rd, 2016.

Synopsis[]

Jim Lake Jr. along with his best friends, Tobias 'Toby' Domzalski, Claire Nuñez and his troll companions, Blinky, AAARRRGGHH!!!, and Draal must thwart all attempts that happen to harm humans & trolls alike while constantly being attacked by evil forces, and dealing with school life and his oblivious mother. Part One contains 26 episodes, consisting of (technically) two story arcs.

The first arc focuses on Jim becoming The Trollhunter and discovering evil trolls called "Gumm-Gumms", who wish to free the Gumm-Gumm leader, Gunmar from the Darklands, headed by changeling Walter Strickler and Gunmar's son, Troll brute Bular.

The second arc deals with Strickler attempting to take leadership of their community and going rogue by unleashing dormant ancient troll named Angor Rot on Jim as he's killed countless Trollhunters in the past. Jim and his friends also band together to rescue Claire's baby brother, Enrique, who was taken by Goblins to the Darklands to create a changeling, nicknamed 'NotEnrique', who ultimately but reluctantly defected to ally with Jim because of the sympathy he feels for Claire. The gang journey to different troll tribes to obtain the three gemstones tied to Gunmar's lifeblood called the Triumbric Stones, which can create the mighty Sword of Eclipse: the only weapon capable of mortally slaying Gunmar for good.

Trivia[]

  • Part One of Trollhunters has the most episodes out of all the Tales of Arcadia installments.
    • In an interview, Guillmero Del Toro stated that he wanted to make episodes 14-26 as Part Two since it started a new story arc, but executive meddling prevented that.
