Dr. Mario Muelas is a recurring character in the Tales of Arcadia franchise.
He is Arcadia’s local dentist, the former employer of Gladysgro, and Toby Domzalski's orthodontist.
History
Backstory
He came to Arcadia Oaks from Mexico at some unknown point of time, along with his family, and established a dental clinic there.
Trollhunters (Part One)
He was first shown fixing up Toby's braces and translating the gibberish he spouted to Jim. He was seen a few more times when Toby went to him for his dental checkups.
Trollhunters (Part Two)
Trollhunters (Part Three)
3Below (Part Two)
One stormy night, as Muelas was operating on Toby, he remained ignorant of his patient's distress as Tronos Madu infiltrated his office and scanned Toby to confirm he wasn't Akiridion. By the time he heard Tronos speak, the Voltarian had disappeared through the electrical socket, leaving a burn on the wall; Muelas remarked he should lay off the laughing gas. He then tried forcing Toby back into the dentist chair as the young Trollhunter desperately tried to warn House Tarron of the new bounty hunter but the gauzes and painkillers in his mouth prevented him from communicating properly
The next day, while operating on another patient, Muelas was visited by Colonel Kubritz and Sergeant Costas, who were tracking the same electro-thermal lifeform. Muelas was at a loss to explain the wall burn and started rambling on that he wasn't one to use laughing gas for recreation but the two soldiers ignored him as they left.
Physical Description
Dr. Muelas is a well-built, heavyset man with a black moustache and a friendly, dreamy face. He has black hair which sticks out in little tufts at the side of his head. He wears a white doctor's coat and a blue shirt with a white collar underneath it, along with dark brown trousers.
Personality
Dr. Muelas seems to be dedicated to his job and he often translates for his patients whenever they mumble something while their mouths are full, indicating that he knows patients very well. He is a happy person who is very honest with his patients. He also seems to be a bit nervous and self-conscious, but is good-hearted.
Powers & Abilities
Abilities
- Dentistry: As a dentist, Muelas can clean and fix his patients' teeth and fills up cavities.
- Gibberish Translator: Muelas has an unusual talent for translating his patient's garbled words while he's fixing them, as he did with Toby in "Becoming: Part 2".
- Pro-Wrestling: In "Luug's Day Out", he claims that he's knowledgable with wrestling, and even implies that he killed a man in the ring.
Weaknesses
- Mortality: As a human, Dr. Muelas possesses a mortal body, so is therefore highly vulnerable to any forms of injuries, sicknesses, and death.
Equipment
- Various Dental Tools: He is often seen using his dentist tools, especially unusual-looking ones like a multi-bladed drill.
Relationships
Friends
Gladys Groe
Dr. Muelas seems to have a professional friendship. However, as evident in the episode "Unbecoming", Gladys merely saw her employer as food once Gunmar returned to the surface.
Visitors
Toby Domzalski
Dr. Muelas and Toby seem to have a mutual friendship with each other. Muelas even appreciates Toby being his number one customer and gives him his honesty, and tries to make his operations the best he can make them.
Jim Lake Jr.
Dr. Muelas seems to treat Jim cordially as he never called him out when he rushed into his office with a patient (who is his best friend, Toby).
