Since much of the time during the show takes place in the Hero's Forge, it had to serve multiple functions in Trollmarket. It is used as a memorial graveyard and temple to the Trollhunters of the past, with their petrified remains decorating the outer walls, as well as a general gathering place of merriment and celebration. The Hero's Forge becomes a battleground, a cosmic border between worlds, as well as a ruin. Over time the limitations actually helped make the Hero's Forge the most versatile set, providing for some of the most beautiful moments in the show.

The Hero's Forge is an arena within Heartstone Trollmarket where Trollhunters train.

Description[]

When Jim first set foot in the Hero's Forge, he first assumed that it was a palace. At the center of the Forge is the Soothscryer, which allows the Trollhunter (or those who walked the line between life and death, like AAARRRGGHH!!!) to enter the Void Between Worlds.

There are two ways to enter the Forge: one is through a cavern and walking across a narrow cliff-like pathway, and the second is a large gate shaped like wooden teeth (which can be closed slightly or completely).

When holding special occasions, the forge also has balcony-like areas for trolls to watch and witness trolls challenging each other in common matches and participating in special sports, like PyroBligst.

Systematics[]

The transformation of the Hero's Forge, and its many traps and gadgets, was guided largely by what we saw working best in storyboard form. We had to go back and forth between storyboards and models to simplify things without losing the impact we got from the timing and movement of it as a sequence.
―Rustam Hasanov, Art Director[src]

As a sacred training ground for Trollhunters, the Forge is filled with animatronics, gadgets, and obstacles.

Its floors can rise, drop, and twist to the side when a button is pressed. There are also large axes built into the walls of the Forge and large blades that emerge from the floor. There is a weapons rack kept in a corner of the Forge.

Trivia[]

  • The statues surrounding the Hero's Forge are the actual remains of the past Trollhunters.
  • Angor Rot calls the Hero's Forge a "coward's grave"
