The Eye of Angor Rot was a powerful magical object as well as one of the body parts of the assassin himself.

History[]

After being tasked by Stricklander to kill the Trollhunter, Angor Rot first used the Eye to spy on Jim Lake Jr., slipping it into his bookbag as he entered Trollmarket. In the Trollmarket library, Angor watched as Jim and his team planned to go to Gatto's Keep to obtain one of Gatto's treasures. Although Angor was unable to see what Team Trollhunters were trying to find, he told Stricklander that it was unlikely that the team would return, considering Gatto's nature.

The Eye was separated once again to spy on Jim, Strickler, and Draal's preparations for Angor's inevitable assault. Draal notices the Eye after polishing his axe, and after he and Strickler fail to capture it, Jim traps it in a jar. Angor learns of the secret tunnel that Draal built into Jim's basement, and uses it to circumvent Jim's defenses. Using his other eye, Angor creates a blackout in the house, causing chaos and managing to wound Strickler and Barbara Lake while trapping Draal, but Jim manages to escape with his mother and Strickler.

Faced with the conundrum of battling Angor without the Sword of Daylight, Strickler tells Jim that the Eye contains a gemstone that can counteract Angor's magic, including the Mark of Angor Rot. With Strickler's guidance, Jim cuts the Eye and places the stone inside into his amulet. When Angor invades Trollmarket, Jim is able to reclaim his sword and battle Angor.

The stone used to reside within the Amulet of Daylight, along with the Triumbric Stones, as shown in "Hero with a Thousand Faces". However, following the Amulet's destruction, presumably the stone is also destroyed.

Description[]

The Eye of Angor Rot is a black spherical stone that lets Angor see, even when it is not connected to his body. The Eye starts off as orange-yellow, but once Angor's soul is destroyed, it becomes a shade of greyish-white.

Abilities[]

Angor Rot was able to use his eye to spy on his prey, though it unknown if he was truly able to hear his targets, as he admitted to not being close enough to explain Jim's motives for going to Gatto's Keep.

Later on, Strickler tells Jim that Angor's eye can be used to ward off and counteract his magics (only if cut properly). When he does so, Jim uses the eye to permanently regain his command over Daylight from Angor, thus severing himself from the Mark of Angor Rot.

Trivia[]

  • Ironically, Angor Rot never realized that his eye Jim and Strickler caught in the Lake House was still in their possession since "Angor Management", until Jim reminds him two episode later in "Something Rotten This Way Comes".
    • Given Angor was soulless and rage-driven at the time, it's likely he was never too concerned and never knew his eye could ward off his magicks.
