- “From Gumm-Gumm origin, the Grit-Shaka necklace gives the wearer a complete sense of courage regardless of what dangerous battle he or she faces.”
- ―The Art of Trollhunters
Grit-Shakas are magic totems used by the Gumm-Gumms, which they use to banish all fear, making them fierce and more nimble.
History[]
In "Young Atlas", to help Jim overcome his fear of kissing Claire for the kissing scene, Draal gives him a Grit-Shaka. Jim puts it on and becomes confident enough to talk to Claire.
However, due to his human physiology, Jim starts growing arrogant, reckless, impulsive, and started ignoring common sense. In his second duel against Bular, he loses the Grit-Shaka (which is then smashed by Bular) and he reverts back to his old self.
Description[]
The Grit-Shaka appears to be a common necklace with a pendent shaped like a fanged mouth that has a glowing green crystal within it.
Abilities[]
Grit-Shakas banish all cowardice and fear from their wielder, making them fierce and ready for battle.
Limitations[]
If it is used by a human, it makes him/her excessively arrogant, reckless, and without impulse control. Blinky even claims that, as a Gumm-Gumm totem, it is reason enough to be fully wary of its high side effects.
